The Diagnostic Imaging Resources We Offer
If your pet needs to be hospitalized, the admitting veterinarian will discuss the proposed treatment plan and related costs with you in advance. And we encourage you to visit your hospitalized pet whenever possible and appropriate. Equally important, we’ll work closely with your primary care veterinarian, maintaining close communication until your pet is stable and ready to be discharged—and returned to you
Here at Southern Rockies, we have invested in today’s most advanced and effective diagnostic imaging modalities for pets, including:
Digital radiography (X-rays): A form of imaging in which digital X-ray sensors are used instead of the traditional photographic film; digital X-rays use less radiation and produce higher-quality images quickly—which means less time on the X-ray table and less stress for your pet
Contrast radiography: The use of X-rays along with a special dye (given intravenously), called a contrast medium, highlights specific areas in the body and helps them to be seen in greater detail on the X-ray image
Ultrasonography (also called ultrasound): Using sound waves to produce pictures of the inside of the body
Echocardiography: Ultrasound of the heart
Computed tomography (CT): Computerized X-ray imaging that produces detailed images of internal organs, bones, soft tissue, and blood vessels
Notably, Southern Rockies was the first veterinary practice in southern Colorado to offer CT technology exclusively for pets—a testament to our commitment to giving this region’s companion animals the most advanced care.
